Philadelphia and Washington DC

Let me talk you through the pictures. First is Independence Hall. That is where the Declaration of Independence was written and signed among other things. The next picture is the Washington monument which is hard to miss when you are in the area but the unique thing about this picture is the helicopter. As we walked past two helicopters came over the trees flying low and one landed on the front lawn of the White House. After a few minutes it took off and went back toward the airport. As far as we know we think the president is the only one with helicopter privileges like that, but I'm not sure. It was cool to see the helicopters anyway. The Lincoln Memorial is in the background of the next picture and the pictures do not do it justice. That thing is huge. The next picture is a view from the Lincoln Memorial looking toward the capitol building. It may seem strange to some but the highlight for Keri and myself was visiting Arlington National Cemetery. These next two pictures try to show there are places in the cemetery where the headstones are lined up as far as you can see. The cemetery for me had a distinct feeling it is a sacred place. I had a harsh realization that thousands of people gave there lives on my behalf. It is sacred there because they really did "give" there life, they chose to defend freedom for their families and for all the people of this country. The remaining pictures are of the Honor guard sentinel at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. We learned there has been a guard standing duty 24 hours a day since the 1930's. The guards are immaculately prepared and articulate and purposeful in every movement. The inscription on the tomb says "Here rests in honored glory AN AMERICAN SOLDIER known but to god" . I felt like the guards were honoring and guarding all of the fallen soldiers there and their dedication and preparation demonstrated the respect and gratitude all of the soldiers deserve.
We had such a great time, and hope to have great adventures like this one in the future.

That is really neat. I'd love to see all that some time.
Keri- I want to go to Melissa's shower, but don't know as of now if I can. It's Joe's b-day and the first Saturday in weeks that he's had scheduled off work, so he wants to go riding that day. But sometimes these supposed days off turn into days at work quickly. (that all comes with a family business) So as it gets closer I'll let ya know what my plan is. As for basketball, don't be jealous, you are welcome to come! We'd love to have ya! It's just an open gym on Monday's and Fridays at 9:15am and then Wed nights at 9pm. I've been going for over a year now and it's been lots of fun. Plus, it helps me stay less fat. :) We play at the church on Nobb Hill, called the North Stake center, just north of the AF cemetery by Kasey's parents house. On mornings we take our kids and let them play with each other and they have tons of fun. So, come if you want to!

Hey Keri- I just worked it out and can go to Melissa's shower. Joe's gonna go on a good hard long ride with some of my brothers, so I'm gonna get a babysitter. So it'd be fun to go to the shower with ya! So let me know if you still want to.
